Exploring the Shadow of the Erdtree in Elden Ring requires collecting map fragments to reveal the landscape and get your bearings. The Shadow Realm starts as an uncharted territory, but there are five main map fragments to find, each located at the base of distinctive steles. Location: Follow the road northeast from the Site of Grace “Highroad Cross,” located shortly after entering Scadu Altus through Castle Ensis. The Map Fragment stele is on the main road leading to the Shadow Keep, just before the soldier encampment.
Alternative Route: To bypass Castle Ensis, use the Spiritspring below the Fort of Reprimand in Gravesite Plain to reach Scadu Altus and find the Map Fragment without facing any bosses.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh Map Location
Location: From the Site of Grace “Moorth Ruins” in Scadu Altus, head northeast towards a small lake. Find a hidden cave near the cliffside leading to Rauh Base. Follow the canyon to the end of the valley outside the Temple Town Ruins to locate the Ancient Ruins of Rauh Map Fragment. Beware of the two giant trolls with ballista arrows on your way.
Southern Shore Map Location
Location: Early in your Shadow Realm journey, trek south to reach the Cerulean Coast without fighting any bosses. Cross the Ellac Greatbridge in Gravesite Plain, head east from the Site of Grace “Castle Front,” pass through the poison bogs near the cliffs, and continue down the caves to the base of the Ellac River. Follow the river and use Torrent to navigate the rock cliffs, eventually arriving at the Cerulean Coast. The stele for the Southern Shore Map Fragment is just before the Site of Grace “Cerulean Coast Cross.”
Abyssal Woods Map Location
Location: The Abyssal Woods map fragment is likely the last one you’ll find. To access it, enter the Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus and locate the hidden stone coffin behind an illusory wall near one of its collectible Paintings. This will transport you to the Site of Grace “Castle Watering Hole.” Travel south through the Darklight Catacombs to reach the Abyssal Woods. The Abyssal Woods Map Fragment is just outside the Abandoned Church.
